Human body is covered with hair that grows through minute openings in the skin referred as pores. The oil produced by the sebaceous glands lubricates the skin. But, when these glands turn out to be overactive they tend to cause blockages in the pores. The combination of the oily sebum with dead skin cells, dirt as well as keratin, a chief constituent of hair lead to blockage of pores.

When these pores get enlarged and open, it forms blackhead. But if these enlargements remain closed whiteheads are formed. Such unattended blockages can get inflamed resulting in to formation of ugly scars that are associated with Acne.
